3 signs you’re over giving this holiday season and how to get back to the joy of the season

As a mom, it’s so easy to get caught up making sure everyone else enjoys their holiday, but what about you?!

All the effort isn’t going to feel worth it if you are not also enjoying yourself.

3 signs you’re over giving this holiday season and how to get back to the joy of the season

1. You feel like there isn’t enough time to get everything done.

2. You find yourself agitated by your family and losing your patience over small things.

3. You’re struggling to be present and in the moment and can only think about how much you haven’t done today.

You’re not alone in feeling this way and you can choose differently, so that you too can enjoy the holidays.

1. Check in with yourself. Before diving into the next thing on your to-do list, ask yourself what do you need first. Sometimes this is simply asking for help, sitting with yourself alone to get your thoughts in order, or cancelling plans and doing “nothing”.

2. It’s okay to say no. Getting uncomfortable for 30 seconds and saying no is much better than saying yes and being resentful later.

3. Ask yourself, “How can this be more enjoyable?” If you have already committed yourself to a lot, find ways to make the things more enjoyable- have a dance party while making cookies, ask the kids to help wrap presents, call a friend and vent so you can let go and enjoy yourself.

You deserve to enjoy the holidays too!!
