Making more money to pay off debt doesn’t work.

Making more money to pay off debt doesn’t work.

But making more money to experience more of life does.

Hear me out.

Of course you can technically make more money and use it to pay off debt.

That’s not what I’m talking about.

I’m talking about what actually motivates you to create MORE.

Nobody wakes up excited thinking:

“I cannot wait to make an extra $10,000 so I can send it all to a credit card company.”

There’s no expansion in that.

There’s obligation.

Pressure.

Fear.

And a constant reminder of what you owe.

I actually talked about this on my podcast before.

We’re not motivated to pay bills.

We’re motivated by what exists on the other side of the money.

The crazy vacation.

The experiences with our kids.

The freedom to say yes without checking the bank account first.

The ability to work because we want to—not because we’re terrified of what happens if we stop.

The ability to experience more of LIFE.

And I’ve lived the opposite side of this too.

I shared in my Road to Hana episode about a period when orders were slow and I was completely focused on the lack of money.

You know what happened?

I didn’t suddenly become wildly productive and make a ton more money.

I got anxious.

I couldn’t sleep.

My brain started spinning with everything I could DO to fix it.

Maybe I should launch something.

Maybe I need another offer.

Maybe I need to do more.

Scarcity made me frantic. It didn’t make me expansive.

That’s the shift.

Stop making money just to make the problem go away.

Give the money somewhere exciting to GO.

Yes, pay off the debt.

Yes, be responsible.

Yes, clean up the financial decisions that need to be cleaned up.

But don’t make debt the vision for your life.

**Debt is something you’re eliminating.

It is not what you’re building toward.**

What are you building toward?

What do you want to experience?

Where do you want to go?

What do you want to give your family?

What would having more money actually allow you to DO, FEEL and EXPERIENCE?

Put your focus there.

Then go make the money.

Because “I need more money because I owe people money” feels completely different than:

“I’m creating more money because there is so much more life I intend to experience.”

Pay off the debt.

But build the life.

More motivation will not create the consistency you need to get the results you want.
