This weekend, I asked my kids for feedback in regard to my parenting.

Maybe you’re thinking why the heck would you do that? You’re the parent!

You’re right.

But I’ve told my kids for years, “this is my first time being your parent and your first time being my kid- we’re bound to make some mistakes.”

And one thing I know about parenting is that each of my kids needs something different from me in terms of support and if I’m not intentional, I’ll simple try to parent them all the same exact way.

So I asked my older two to give me 3 things I was doing great at as a mom and 3 things I could work on 🫣 (I also let them know that in no way would they be punished for their responses).

To my surprise, I didn’t have a whole lot to work on - a recipe they didn’t like and they wish I had forced them to spend more time as a family.

In terms of what I was doing right- helping with their mindset, supporting their dreams unconditionally, and being there for them.

I believe in soul-led parenting and so that means I’m open to making mistakes and willing to receive feedback in order to become a better mom.
