I’m a both/and kind of person.

I’m a both/and kind of person.

Not because I’m a people pleaser or because I feel inferior, but because I’m multidimensional.

I remember at a seminar I attended, the hosts had prepared an ice breaker game and handed papers around the room and then explained the exercise.

The page had two columns and each column contained something like hot or cold, scary movie or rom com, beach or mountains.

We were told to choose which we preferred and then see how many we had in common with others in the room.

Of the 20 categories, I circled “or” 17 times, because sometimes I love the beach, sometimes I love the mountains. Sometimes I love the hot, sometimes I love the cold.

As I went about the room finding the highest commonalities, most women loved that I had circled “or”, but one woman in particular got angry at me, told me I wasn’t playing the game right and refused to compare numbers with me.

I just smiled and walked away.

The whole thing was interesting to me, but I was not going to let one person tell me I was playing a made up game incorrectly. Clearly, I had triggered her. So I found another woman who loved my interpretation of the game, we had the most matches (19 of 20), and won a gift card.

I’m a both/and kind of person.

I’m a successful business owner AND a present mom.

I’m a mom AND a hot wife.

I’m bougie AND basic.

I’ve created a life in which I never have to decide which is more important to me.

I get to be BOTH.
