What if you were grateful for their example of what not to do?
What if you were grateful for their example of what not to do?
Family can be complicated.
While on my paddle board yesterday, I was prompted to consider instead of being resentful for a family member not being what I wanted them to be, could I just be grateful for their example?
My inner child wanted to yell over the lack of fairness in having to deal with a parental figure that felt less than.
But God was right.
I needed a different perspective.
For example, instead of viewing my mother or father or step parents as inadequate, could I give them grace for doing the best they could and love them anyways?
Certainly, I have my own short comings as a parent and so what would I want from my children as they grow up? I would want them to love me despite my short comings and being grateful for doing the best I could.
And so, while I don’t have it all figured out, I do know, I could give a whole lot more grace and love them anyways.
We’re all works in progress.
Could a different perspective help one of your relationships?
