“We are what we habitually do.”
“We are what we habitually do.”
I remember hearing this and thinking, no way can that be true, because at the time I was miserable with where I was in life. I felt like I was simply going through the motions.
And feeling like there were no other others, I looked at my habits with curiosity. If this were true, then I needed to get aware of what I was doing, habitually.
The first thing, I noticed was my mood when I woke in the morning. I started each day begrudgingly. Annoyed that this new day was going to be simply the same day I had already lived.
Realizing this pattern, I shifted from begrudgingly starting the day to finding something I was looking forward to before my feet hit the floor.
Slowly this small shift gave me courage to look at other habits and then more habits.
I am now a firm believer that there is power in the seemingly small things.
There are still changes to be made, but I know I’m heading in the right direction.
